Where does Purple Loosestrife grow in Minnesota?
Purple loosestrife is an invasive species originally intended to landscape areas. The plant thrives in any area that is moist such as lakes, streams, ditches, canals, etc. and it is clear that Minnesota has plenty of those. To manage this infestation the DNA was spraying herbicides, but since then they have introduced biological control factors. Now only small amounts of chemicals are used for small and recent infestations.
