History of the White Pine
Before European settlers came in the 1800's, there was a vast forest of white pine in the eastern U.S.
The White Pines were so large that people thought they could use as many as they wanted and they would never run out. The lumbermen began to chock down the trees for furniture, houses, ships, bridges, and boardwalks.
When Minnesota was at its greatest rate of production there were 20,000 loggers, 20,000 workers, and 20,000 more in wood production factories(1900-1910).
